conversations between my Self and other various parts of Me
I’m not so into this one. In co-counselling, we talk all the time about how feelings come and go. “It’s just a feeling.” They aren’t things on which one bases big decisions. Making long-term relationship decisions based on hormones and adrenaline is dramatic and fun but likely to lead to the relationship ending with an equally big bang when some other feeling comes along. Follow your short-term feelings to get short-term benefits — jump out of that plane, sing in the subway, whatever — but only in movies do these things lead to something enduring. For enduring, something a bit deeper and slower works better.
